Am I an Ecological Bigfoot?

Fall asleep at 4 a.m., wake up at 7 a.m. for class at 8 a.m.; going to be a tough morning. There's nothing better than a steaming shower to put a little pep in my step. Turn the hot water on, get some clean clothes, brush my teeth, then I jump in the shower. The feeling of the hot water running over my body makes me stay longer than I should. By the time i'm done I usually have the water on for about 25 to 30 minutes. This overuse of water is my biggest ecological impact by far and I need to change it soon, because I am not only wasting water but tons of energy too. Other than wasting water, I believe that I am pretty environmentally friendly; besides my Mustang that gets 11 mpg.
As Professor Vallier began to talk about this blog assignment and the website that goes with it, it took me back to last year when I used this website in my AP Environmental Science class. It showed me that I was leaving a huge ecological footprint, and if that was just me I couldn't even imagine what everyone in the world was doing to this planet. Since then I've tried to become a lot more "greener" by recycling more, not driving as much, and  re-using plastic water bottle as much as I can. Today when I went on the ecological footprint calculator it told me that it would take 4.1 earth's, and 18.2 acres of land of resources for me to live like I do everyday. This is about half of what my result was last year and it feels pretty good knowing that I've actually made a difference.
An ecological footprint is the amount of area, amount of resources, or harmful output to the environment. Footprints tell you how much resources on this earth you are using and how much you are destroying it.These are important because it shows us now what we are doing to the Earth and what could happen in the future. Lessening your footprint will help the Earth survive that much longer, and allow our future generations to live in the same environment that we did.
